Your Support Makes a Difference
Bali’s beauty attracts millions each year — from its turquoise waves and golden beaches to its serene rice terraces and volcanic peaks. But behind the paradise lie real dangers: sudden monsoons, lost hikers, and powerful ocean currents. In those critical moments,
FINN’s Search and Rescue team becomes a lifeline — turning potential tragedy into stories of survival.
They Come Prepared
The Search and Rescue helicopter comes equipped with advanced medical tools, an expert team and can reach areas that are inaccessible to ground crews – remote cliffs, dense jungle, offshore reefs and accidents stuck in traffic.
We partner with Nusa Medica to ensure that every patient gets the best possible outcome.
The skilled pilots and medics deliver a rapid response that saves lives when every second matters. In 2024, similar SAR helicopters across the Republic of Indonesia were responsible for evacuating over 1,200 people in emergency situations. This includes many tourists who found themselves facing trail accidents and other crises far from the archipelago’s hospitals.
The Biggest Challenge Facing Bali’s SAR Service
Despite the generous sponsorship of FINNS Beach Club, funding this essential service remains a big challenge. The operating costs, including fuel, maintenance, training, staffing, etc., exceed $600,000 a year. Local government budgets, which have been stretched to breaking point, cannot cover these expenses. Without private donations, response times could lengthen or responses might even have to stop entirely, risking lives.
The 2018 Lombok earthquake demonstrated the value of helicopters to emergency response in Indonesia. The helicopters worked tirelessly to evacuate the area with hundreds of people, including many tourists, lifted to safety.
Your contributions can help to ensure that such rapid responses to emergencies remain possible.
What Difference Can You Make?
Travellers love to embrace the spirit of exploration in Bali, but that adventure brings its risks. Donating to our service aligns with the tradition of “gotong royong” an Indonesian tradition of communal cooperation and harmony. It’s a contribution to the collective good.
Just $20 will help to fuel a short flight, $100 can equip a team with critical gear. Every contribution is used to enhance the service with updates provided regularly on this site of successful missions.
Donors will also receive occasional private correspondence with exclusive stories of rescues or virtual tours of the helicopter and the landing facilities. This will ensure you see the impact of your generosity.
